A Message from Our General Manager
Dear ASK Community,
What an incredible month February has turned out to be! Over the weekend of February 12-15, we moved everything from our old facility into our spectacular new campus on Sundt Road. The following week saw an incredible amount of hard work put in by our staff to prepare for scholars. On February 22, we had a first period assembly in our new commons to celebrate our new building, scholars, staff, and family. The first few days have been phenomenal! We are all excited to have larger rooms, larger common areas, and room to run outdoors. We still have some work to do, but we know that we have the greatest extended family in the state and that continuous progress is always our goal.
Being in our new space is great, but as we always manage to do, we made it even better. On Wednesday, February 24, 2016, we were honored to have a host of local and state dignitaries, including Governor Susana Martinez and Secretary of Education Hanna Skandera on hand for a very special event. Colin DeGroot, our integrated science, aerospace engineering, and anatomy and physiology manager was recognized by the Milken Educational Foundation for his exceptional teaching. This national award recognizes the best and brightest teachers in the nation, and we couldn’t be more proud of him! Please take a look at the photos on the Milken Educational Foundation’s website.
Finally, our Vex robotics team followed up their first place district finish with a second place finish at the state competition in Las Cruces over the weekend of February 12! Well done to all the members of our teams!
I don’t know what March will have to offer, but I know that February has been my most memorable month in education.
Thanks for all the support. The Androids are amazing!
