The Ask Academy Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (Stem), Building relationships ot create self-directed learners.

The ASK Academy is a public charter school, open to any New Mexico resident in grades 6-12 regardless of race, color, gender, creed, or religious affiliation. The Academy accepts all scholars who come to the academy in “good standing” with all records and immunizations as space is available. We fill open seats on a lottery basis, with the exception that siblings of a scholar currently attending The ASK Academy receive one of the seats automatically.

The Lottery Process

Each academic year, starting February 1, we have a lottery application for the upcoming academic year. Families fill out the directory information when they click the application link below. This time stamps them as applicants for next year’s enrollment, creating our master applicant spreadsheet.

Each grade has a published number of seats available (see below for 2017-2018 seats available). At the end of February 2017, the applicants for each grade level are counted. If the list number is less than the number of available seats in that grade, all applicants are offered an enrollment packet. If the list number is greater than the number of available seats in that grade, we have a public, random lottery-drawing on March 1 for that grade (scholars of ASK employees and siblings of existing ASK scholars are placed at the front of this waiting list or get first seating of available seats). This public drawing will be in the Commons at The ASK Academy, 4550 Sundt Road, NE, 87124. When a waiting list is created, future applicants are added in time-stamp order on that grade's waiting list. As seats become available in grades with a waiting list, the next applicant is offered a seat and sent an enrollment packet.

Seats available in each grade for the 2017-2018 academic year:

  • 6th grade - 100
  • 7th grade - 90
  • 8th grade - 80
  • 9th grade - 65
  • 10th grade - 60
  • 11th grade - 55
  • 12th grade - 40

The ASK Academy requires the parent and scholar to fill out a registration packet, proof of the scholar’s date of birth, and up-to-date immunization records.
