The ASK Academy Androids

Welcome to the online home of The ASK Academy, a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) innovation. We are located in the beautiful City of Vision, Rio Rancho, New Mexico. ASK is state authorized charter school for 6th through 12th grades scholars interested in STEM careers within the areas of biomedical sciences and engineering and design. ASK teaches with traditional methodologies but also through hands-on, project based learning strategies. Our relationships with local STEM businesses and educational post-secondary partners enable our scholars to learn in a realistic setting. Our curriculum is rigorous and challenging but relevant for the STEM careers for which we prepare our scholars.

Please take the time to browse our website to learn what we are all about. Our unique perspective on teaching and learning allows our scholars to explore concepts in an authentic fashion. If you, or your STEM interested scholar, should have any questions, please contact us for more information.

Meet our Middle School Principal, John Keelin

Mr. Keelin has 23 years of experience in education.  Mr. Keelin is a native New Mexican with strong ties to our educational system.  He is a graduate of the University of New Mexico and holds his administration degree from Highlands University along with a Masters in Curruclum and Planning.  Mr. Keelin believes that we must come together as a community to reach the needs of our scholars.  Working with the community and providing a safe and consistent learning environment is a key goal for him.  He works closely with the administration team to create and implement consistency within our Academy.  He builds strong bonds with the scholars and they know he is firm, fair, and trustworthy.

Meet our High School Principal, Nadyne Shimada

This is Mrs. Shimada’s 11th year with the Academy.  For the past 11 years, she has been the Director of Special Education.  Her commitment to education for all scholars is second to none.  She has been a mentor Project Manager, High School English Teacher, and an important member of the Executive Council, as well as many other important roles at the Academy.  Ms. Shimada is also a member of our Strategic Planning Committee.

The staff appreciates Mrs. Shimada's vast knowledge of education. She is a great resource for our staff and scholars. She also has a fantastic sense of humor. The scholars seek her advice and she sets them on a path of success.
