Assignment: August 17, 2020: Topic 1.3 AMSCO Textbook in Google Classroom

Assignment: August 17, 2020: Topic 1.3 AMSCO Textbook

Please CAREFULLY the Prologue section of the AMSCO Textbook, particularly pages 46-50. The reason I want you to read that is to read, absorb, and write notes that describe and contrast the various religions that find their way to India, which is the subject of the next chapter in our reading, Topic 1.3 "Developments in South and Southeast Asia." As I said this morning, and will say this afternoon, we really have to understand the differences and developments from Hinduism, Buddhism, Confuciansism, and Islam, as well as Sufi, to understand why people in India, Pakistan, and other nations in Southeast Asia keep fighting over these various religions.

Then, read and take notes for Topic 1.3 Chapter in AMSCO Textbook, "Developments in South and Southeast Asia."

THEN, AND HERE IS THE ACTUAL WRITING ASSIGNMENT, answer the following, which are located at the end of the chapter 1.3: (1) Page 30 in actual textbook, Multiple Choice questions 1-3; (2) both Short-Answer questions in full, numbers 1(A)-(C) and 2(A)-(C); and (3) the "Reflect on the Chapter Essential Question."

For this "Reflect on the Chapter Essential Question," I WANT FOUR PARAGRAPHS, NOT ONE TO THREE PARAGRAPHS AS STATED IN THE TEXTBOOK. Therefore, what I want to see is a thesis statement, two paragraphs of evidence (whether compare/contrast, continuity, or other styles), and a concluding paragraph.

NOTE 1: THIS ASSIGNMENT WILL BE WORTH A TOTAL OF 12 POINTS FOR THE PERFECT RESPONSES.

NOTE 2: PLEASE SUBMIT THROUGH GOOGLE DOCS SO I MAY EDIT OR RESPOND IN A COMMENT BOX TO THE RIGHT OF THE COMPUTER PAGE.

NOTE 3: AS WITH THE FIRST ASSIGNMENT, FOR TOPICS 1.1 AND 1.2, THIS IS GOING TO BE GRADED UNDER "CLASSWORK," THOUGH IT IS STRUCTURED AS A TAKE-HOME QUIZ.

Due date: August 24, 2020 at 8 a.m. I will try to grade earlier for earlier submissions, but I cannot promise that--as I was super busy this weekend with too much grading in this and other classes, and I do try to give substantive feedback.

As we went over, or are going over, today, the multiple-choice questions are tricky, and it is important to look at each word or phrase used to determine either the best or least worst choice.

Assignment: August 10, 2020 (Topics 1.1 and 1.2) in Google Classroom

Assignment: August 10, 2020 (Topics 1.1 and 1.2)

As stated this morning, the assignment is as follows: Read Topics 1.1 and 1.2 in the AMSCO book. Make sure you are writing/typing notes in the style you believe is going to be most effective for you to study for the AP Test in May 2021. If you want to show me your notes, I will be glad to review them and comment. Then, after reading, you will prepare answers to the multiple choice questions at the end of each sub-chapter (meaning Topics 1.1 and 1.2). You will also answer one of the short questions. A student in this morning's class stated I should try to put the questions into a Google Form to download. I will try and do it that way and provide something by Wednesday. If not, or if you get done before Wednesday, you may provide me with a Google Doc you will have to create which includes the multiple choice answers only (no need to write the questions) and the question you wish to answer, with your answer for each Topics 1.1 and 1.2. For grading, this will be deemed Classwork and not a Quiz, Test, Essay, or Project. I could make this like a Quiz, but I think I should be cautious for your first assignment so that it is only in the 10% weight for grading. There are six total multiple choices and therefore a point each. The remaining six points will be for the two short answers of 1-3 points each.

Due:

For 8/5 Wed: Read my notes of the Heimler Video and re-watch the Heimler video in Google Classroom

For 8/5 Wed: Read my notes of the Heimler Video and re-watch the Heimler video

For those who missed today's class, see at the end.

For those who appeared in today's class, I uploaded, in the Materials section, the notes I spoke of this morning. Please read the notes and then re-watch the Heimler video a second time. The Heimler video is located there, too, of course. On a Google Doc, write your name and email, and list anything from the Heimler video I should have mentioned in the notes, which you think were material. If you can explain why, in a sentence (or two), please do so. If you think the notes could be better prepared, please offer your thought(s) about that. Then, send me the Google doc the usual way, or if you have a problem, download a copy and send to me via email. Yes, I am still getting used to how Google Classroom and Google Docs work. :)

For those who missed class today, please watch the Heimler video and then do what those who were able to get into the class today are to do here.
