Quiz: Chapter 5, Sections 5.1 and 5.2

This is a quiz of short answer, multiple choice, and true or false. You have 30 minutes to start and complete.

Due:

Read Chapter 5 in textbook, sections 5.1 and 5.2 in Google Classroom

Read Chapter 5 in textbook, sections 5.1 and 5.2

We discussed forms of notes taking today. We skimmed through Chapter 5, sections 5.1 and 5.2, to see the textbook's style, and how it appears to fit in with two types of notes taking, Cornell Notes and Bullet Point/Outline notes. The assignment is: This weekend, or by Monday night, read sections 5.1 and 5.2 (See in Google Classroom, the Topic Header "Chapters 5 & 6 Early Modern Europe.") and take notes on what you read. On Tuesday morning, we will discuss sections 5.1 and 5.2. Although it is not required, you may send me your notes on the two sections to show how you are doing with note taking. I am recommending two styles of note taking: (1) Cornell Notes and (2) Bullet Point Outline notes. Both are in Rules, Note Taking and Standards Topic Header. Then, after Tuesday's class, we will have a quiz on Chapter 5, sections 5.1 and 5.2 on Friday.

Due:

Watch videos, reaction in writing, and note taking in Google Classroom

Watch videos, reaction in writing, and note taking

Hi, and I apologize again for not getting sound on the videos today. The following is the assignment I would like you to complete by Thursday at 5 p.m.: (1) Watch the Randy Newman video song; (2) Pull down a Google Doc and write a one line or one paragraph response to hearing the song; (3) Watch the World History before 1200 CE video (Heimler video; in the same section as the Randy Newman video). It's just over 13 minutes; (4) Then, read my MJF Notes on the Heimler video. The purpose is to see if you can catch my typos, anything I may have missed (I was not trying to make typos or miss anything, as I just wrote it raw, the way you would have done), and if you have any ideas or comments regarding how to better take notes of written or video materials. Put the critique and thoughts on the same Google Doc that you have your response to the Randy Newman video. The purpose of the exercise in (3) and (4) is simply to introduce you to the world of note taking. HELP NOTE: In the Chapter 5 & 6 Early Modern Europe section, there is a document entitled Chapter 5 Taking Notes. It is worth looking at to help show how to take good notes for a World History type class. Please let me know if this is not clear as to what we want done before Friday's class.
