Science the week of March 7-10, 2022

This week we continue to forge ahead with our energy unit exploring solar, Newton's 3rd law of motion, and all about coal. How is your research going for your campaign project? 😉 Don't forget to sign up for SLATE conference too! It's next week, coming up quick.
  • Newton's 3rd Law of Motion. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. So what does this exactly mean? DAY 3 of exploring Newton's Laws
  • Coal, nonrenewable fossil fuel that is combusted and used to generate electricity. How much do we use? Pros and cons of utilizing this source as fuel.
  • Solar energy baby! Another one of my favs! 🌅🕶  Powering toys, cars, homes, and large infrastructure all around the world since 1954. In 1954, Bell Labs developed the first silicon photovoltaic (PV) cell. Although solar energy had previously been captured and converted into usable energy through various methods, only after 1954 did solar energy begin to become a viable source of electricity to power devices over extended periods of time. This source is incredible! How do we obtain this energy? Is it safe? What is the cost and long term benefits of solar?
  • Our Energy campaign project launched last Thursday, have you selected your source to report on? Class time this Thursday and a review on Sound Energy.  *Details in Google Classroom.
Reminder, if you are at home learning, be sure to check Google Classroom daily for access to the lessons and the work. Check Powerschool too! Contact me if you have questions or need to schedule a time. I will be at school on Friday 3/11 for scholar support, 8-10 AM.
