NMSU Summer Engineering Program

We have an ASK scholar going to a NMSU engineering program for the summer! Ziven Lopez, transitioning to ninth grade next year, got accepted into the MC2 Mathlab middle school engineering program. He received full-ride tuition to this program that covers his room, board, tuition, and field trips. He will be working on math and engineering problems as well as projects with the engineering department on campus. Way to go Ziven!

MIT Engineering Grant is coming to ASK!

We are happy to share this exciting news. ASK Academy’s Project Manager, Danielle Plomoaritas has joined forces with junior Alexandria Miera, Sean Hurley, our Design Manager, as well as a team of scholars to come up with an idea for the MIT InvenTeam Project.

What, you ask, is the MIT InvenTeam Project? Its mission is to have scholars invent a technological solution to a real-world problem. ASK’s team came up with the idea to design and produce an exoskeletal aid for first responders. This device will be able to collect vitals such as temperature, blood pressure, and the heart rate of a patient.

You can help, too! If you have a design company, engineering firm, or emergency medical knowledge – we could use your assistance. Please contact Paul Stephenson, Director of Engineering and Design, if you are interested in collaborating with ASK Academy students and leaders in this very exciting project. Looking forward to hearing from you.
