Course Description:
Scholars will have the opportunity to learn and demonstrate an understanding of various applications and resources, which will include the Google Suite, Microsoft Office, internet use and research, typing, coding, design and a wide variety of computer peripherals. Technology will be used for project based learning, problem solving, research, as well as a communication tool. Scholars will be involved in project oriented research with an emphasis placed on technology skills that will help to improve all academic subjects as we integrate technology into current curriculum and core subjects.
Class Expectations:
Be kind, positive, respectful and prepared for class. Scholars should be on time to class and ready to participate. It is vital that scholars check their Google Classroom, email and PowerSchool daily.
Evaluation:
Quarter Grades:
Semester Grades - Scholar’s semester grades will be calculated as follows:
Quarter 1 – 40% Quarter 2 – 40% Semester Final – 20%
Quarter 3 - 40% Quarter 4- 40% Semester Final - 20%
GRADING SCALE: The grading scale will follow the ASK Academy standards:
A+ = 96-100 % B = 80-89 %
A = 90-95 % C = 70-79 %
N/C (No credit) = Below 70 %
Scholars will be evaluated by total points earned. The point values vary based on the difficulty and sustained effort required. Demonstration of learning activities include: homework, projects, quizzes, tests and daily classwork.
HOMEWORK POLICY:
Work that is assigned has purpose and value at that moment, therefore, due dates are not suggestions. Assignments, no matter how big or small, are held to the same standard. All work for the week should be done no later than Friday of that week.
LATE WORK POLICY:
Late assignments will be accepted until progress reports (about 4 ½ weeks) are due and then when quarter grades are due (9 weeks). Please use Friday intervention when needed.
ABSENCES:
Excused absences and other extenuating circumstances allow for exceptions on a case by case basis per the Scholar Handbook.
PROJECT EXPECTATIONS:
Collaboration and participation are essential while working on projects. Do your part to be a good team member.
