Happy Summer Break ASK Families!

Happy Summer Break ASK Families,

We are actively assessing all the possibilities for the Fall Semester so that when the PED and the CDC give their “final” guidance we will be able to adapt and initiate a plan that continues with educational gains, while maintaining the health and safety of our school community. We are also closely monitoring the surrounding districts (as well as looking at reopening plans from across the country) to make the best informed decisions.

Currently, both APS (https://www.aps.edu)  and RRPS (https://www.rrps.net) are at the general planning stages and both of their websites have a great deal of detail regarding COVID-19 and possibilities and barriers to reopening their schools. Since the NM PED is looking at an early July date to send out reopening guidance, we are waiting until then to put our plans into place. Our website does contain links to the CDC and their guidance for schools – at this point (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/schools.html) . In addition Governor Lujan-Grisham has directed all New Mexicans to regularly consult the New Mexico Department of Public Health website (https://www.nmhealth.org/) for the most up-to-date information for New Mexico.

All of these sites offer partial pictures of the current thinking regarding COVID-19 and reopening, but there is nothing definitive yet. We welcome you to stay informed and practice safe habits, but our reopening plan is still evolving and will not be finalized until mid-July. We are planning to follow our 2020-21 calendar, unless we are directed otherwise.
