Re-entry Update and Reminders 3/18/2021

Spring Break (March 22-26)!

This information will provide a few more details about re-entry.  Please look for the email from Dr. Boyd sent on 3/18/21 which includes a questionnaire that we would like all families to answer.  Please note that there is one questionnaire designed for scholars enrolled in Google Classroom and another for scholars enrolled in Edgenuity.  There are reminders about purchasing yearbook items at the end of this message as well.

In an effort to make more precise plans, we are asking each family to complete a questionnaire for each scholar that they have enrolled at The ASK Academy.  In the past, you have received optional, temperature check surveys to help guide our plans.  This questionnaire is different in that we need precise numbers at this juncture, making this questionnaire mandatoryPlease complete the questionnaire linked in the email from Dr. Boyd sent on 3/18/21 for each scholar you have enrolled at The ASK Academy by the end of the day on Sunday, March 28, 2021.

Before you answer the questionnaire please keep the following points in mind about how in-person learning will likely look under the latest guidance provided by PED:

  • Everyone on campus will have to wear a mask all day and remain 6ft. apart whenever possible.

  • Scholars must have a properly worn mask or they will not be allowed on campus.

  • Families will need to do home checks, referencing our COVID Screener form, and keep their scholars out of school if they have been exposed or are experiencing COVID symptoms.  This is extremely important, because one positive case on campus can shutdown the entire campus.

  • Scholars will not be allowed to speak while eating.  They can speak after they have finished eating and put their masks back on to cover their nose and mouth.

  • There will be one food truck on campus Monday through Thursday, as we have to limit people on campus as much as possible.  If your scholar brings their lunch, please remember that the lunches need to be cold and cannot include nuts/nut products as several of our community members have severe, airborne nut allergies.

  • Scholars will need to bring their fully charged laptop/chrome book with charger, a set of headphones with a microphone, lunches, and beverages (water fountains will not be in use).

  • Scholars will not be using any physical materials or manipulatives while on campus.  Scholars will still be doing a vast majority of their work on their laptops/chrome books.

  • Days, times, and format for clubs may change due to manager availability.  Please check the weekly announcements for the announcement of changes to clubs each week.

  • Scholars cannot be dropped off early, so AM processes may take longer than normal.  Drop off will start at 7:45AM.

  • Scholars will need to be picked up within 15 minutes of dismissal to allow for cleaning to commence.  Pickup will start promptly at 2:00PM.  Scholars will have the opportunity to schedule time for in-person support from 2:15PM to 4:00PM.

  • Edgenuity scholars will finish the semester via Edgenuity.  However, Edgenuity scholars will need to attend Fundamental Connections and Career Pathways four days a week and will have the opportunity to schedule time for in-person support from 2:15PM to 4:00PM

  • Please send scholars to school in full uniform or as close as possible to the full uniform. If you are purchasing new shirts from Turbo Threads, please keep in mind that it takes about 2 weeks from the order date to fulfill the order.  Good alternatives are solid color, collared tops and well fit bottoms that are not blue denim.  If you need assistance with uniform clothing due to financial issues, please contact Ms. April Marquez at [email protected]

The schedule above is a lot like the schedule we have been using this spring.  There are two main differences:

1) Career Pathways and Fundamental Connections courses will be taken four days a week during the middle of the day.

2) There is only going to be one support hour available on Friday morning, and support during that time will need to be pre-scheduled between scholars and project managers.  Please do not expect a project manager to be available in the absence of a pre-scheduled meeting.  Please note that Friday is a completely remote learning day.

Reminders:

Order Yearbook Clothing Items by March 19th at midnight:

To go along with the yearbook, scholars thought it would be fun to provide our community with commemorative clothing featuring the yearbook cover art (short-sleeve shirts, long-sleeve shirts, & hoodies). Below you will find a link to an order form, in which there are additional images of the clothing.  The theme is”Brave the Unknown.” Please note that you can pay for these items online using The ASK Foundation’s PayPal account.
