Ms. Chen- Reading Interventionist & Resource Project Manager

Ms. Chen was born and grew up in Taiwan until she was 20. She came to the U.S. for her undergraduate and graduate studies in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and taught English as a Foreign Language at higher education institutes in Taiwan for eight years. She received her Ph.D. degree in Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies from the University of New Mexico in 2018. Before joining the ASK Academy, Ms. Chen taught ELA, Reading, Consumer Math, and Targeted Assistance at Public Academy for Performing Arts for a year. 
 
Ms. Chen lived in Chicagoland for 11.5 years and moved back to the Land of Enchantment/ Entrapment with her family in 2022. She has two senior dogs and loves spending time making friends with wildlife. One of her dreams is to have her own animal sanctuary to rescue and rehabilitate animals. 
 
Ms. Chen has always wanted to be a teacher since her childhood. She always enjoys helping and learning with students. This is her first year teaching Reading Intervention and High School Resource classes at the Academy. She is very excited to meet with the wonderful scholars here.
