SUPPLY LIST: Laptop (will not be used frequently), pencil, loose-leaf paper, three-ring binder OR composition notebook, colored pencils, Scientific Calculator

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  (Link to course descriptions)  

CLASS EXPECTATIONS:  Scholars will be expected to: 

  • 1) Be PREPARED for class
  • Be on time with a good attitude, ready to listen and learn
  • Turn in assignments on time
  • Put away all technology unless specifically required by project manager
  • Bring needed materials to class every day
  • Check Google Classroom daily
  • 2) Be RESPECTFUL
  • Have a good attitude
  • Treat project manager and other scholars with respect
  • Do not interrupt or talk during lessons. Wait until project manager is done talking/teaching to bring up unrelated questions or concerns respectfully and privately as appropriate.
  • I do not tolerate excuses, lying, goofing off, stealing or cheating. There will be consequences for misbehavior. Cheating will result in an automatic Zero (no retakes will be allowed)
  • Show respect for property by not stealing or vandalizing.
  • 3) Be DILIGENT with time
  • Ask questions if you do not understand.
  • Pay attention and take notes during lessons.
  • Do not wait until you are failing to get help.
  • Use class time wisely to complete activities or assignments
  • Keep up with the lessons. Procrastination is not advised.
  • Always try to do your best work.

STANDARDS:  This course is aligned with the New Mexico Public Education Standards. 

CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION: 

Quarter Grades: Practice assignments: 20%

Quizzes:  30%

Assessments (Tests) & Projects 50%

Semester Grades - Scholar’s semester grades will be calculated as follows:

Quarter 1 – 40%      Quarter 2 – 40%      Semester Final – 20%

Quarter 3 - 40% Quarter 4- 40% Semester Final - 20%

 GRADING SCALE:   The grading scale will follow the ASK Academy standards:

A+ = 96-100 % 

A = 90-95 %

B = 80-89 %

C = 70-79 %

N/C(No credit) = Below 70 %

HOMEWORK POLICY: Homework/Classwork will be assigned. Scholars are expected to complete assignments on time in order to prepare for quizzes and tests.

LATE WORK POLICY: Late work will be assessed a penalty of 10% per day late. After a week, no credit will be given for the assignment.

ABSENCES: It is YOUR responsibility to complete any assignments missed during an absence. If you have a planned absence, please contact me BEFORE leaving about assignments or assessments that you will miss. For unplanned absences, please contact me ASAP when you return to class about making up any assignments or assessments. 

PROJECT EXPECTATIONS: Projects will be assigned in both individual and group formats. For group projects, all members will be expected to do equal amounts of work and be available to work with their group.  Grading may be based on each member’s individual contribution.Enter your text here...
